In 1970 that eagle was painted blue and the building housed an EM club. HHQ ENGCOMEUR was billeted there.

I was stationed in Gibbs from April 1986-July 1989 in 284th MP CO. I can't remember what unit was in that bldg when I first got there, but in 1987 HHC, 18th MP Brigade moved in there. It sucked having Bn down on the first floor of our (2nd) Bldg, and Brigade 2 bldg's down the street. Was like living in a glass house.

That building housed HHC, 18th MP Brigade, from 1987 till after I left in July 1989. I was stationed with 284th MP CO, in the 2nd building on the right as you came into Gibbs. 709th MP Bn was down on the first floor.

I lived in Gibbs Housing from 1972-1974 and used to climb the fence to take a short cut between the Housing Area and the Kaserne.

I was stationed here with the 69th Engineering Company (TOPO) from 1961 until May 1964. Didn't realize that it was no longer being used and was shut down. A long time ago but when I see these photos, it seems like only yesterday

I was at Gibbs with the 284th MPCO from 1992 until 1995 when we rolled the colors and deactivated the Unit...very sad day.

V Corps HQ was at Abrams but moved also.

18th MP Bde moved away when we closed Gibbs and the Battalion HQ was in Hanau...

Gosh; brings back memories. I lived at Gibbs Kaserne in 1975-76 while stationed in Frankfurt. I was signal corps and worked in the Abrams building basement. I was there when Baader Meinhoff left a bomb at the front door. Trippy to see these pics.

Was at Gibbs from Dec 79 through Dec '82, with the 3rd Support Command Special Troops Bn: first as the S2/3, then as commander of the 92nd Transportation Company. I commanded that company until it was inactivated in Sep '82 - a VERY sad day.

As the Special Troops Bn S2/3, we were also responsible for the security and operation of the Kaserne. Our building still had the special tiles to accommodate hob-nailed boots from the "unpleasantness", a mural on the first-floor interior wall made during WW-II (with a boundary line added later when there was a West and East Germany).

Great memories. It is somewhat sad to see what it has become, but that is progress in a rather congested city. The BOQ I stayed in seems to still stand, but as an apartment building just outside the main gate, in between Gibbs and the former 97th General Hospital.

I was stationed with the 284th MP Company from 1981-1983. Lots of good memories in Frankfurt and good duty. Went back and visited a few years back and it is know all redone with apartments and regional fire academy. 97th General Hospital is the U.S. Consulate and secure and Betts area is gone and stayed at a new hotel built on the grounds. Whoever can help with history of Camp Eschborn, please add your memories of the place as it used to be in the 70's through 90's.
