If you need more pictures of these installations or directions to other former US military areas or housings in Rödelheim/Hausen or generally in Frankfurt...shoot me a mail.
According to usarmygermany.com and other sources, in Hausen there used to be one small housing area, on Am Fischstein (Pfanmuellerstrasse to be more specific) and a Maintenance Center - which I could not identify (listed as Hausen Equip Maint Ctr in the BICC).
Is there any other former installation that was not leveled down ?
As for Roedelheim, the only one I know is the former US Army Publications & Training Aids Center.
Thanks for the great pictures. I lived with my German aunt in Hattersheim in 1972 and she got me a job at the training center as a commercial artist. I worked there for over a year and was one of the best experiences of my life. All the people there were great. Kind of sad to see it run down, the place was always spotless. Cheers Karl in Canada
thank's for the memories...i was a secretary to the commander, major dillon in roedelheim and to many other commanders thereafter..the base was used in the mid and late 60's for repairs of trucks, tanks, etc that came from vietnam..much of it was junk and sold to a private contractor from holland..at one time small parts of a body were found in a tank that was scheduled for junk..awful site! i have pictures, but many include faces of employees and i would have to get permission, if possible, to sent them to you...to the person that inquired about fishstein..it was a housing facility for military personnel, stationed in hoechst..i heard that it was changed into condo's for civilians..
the installation inn roedelheim was used in 1966-1971 as a repair and junk yard for heavy equipment, trucks, tanks, etc from vietnam...at one time in 1968 parts of a dead soldier were found in a tank slated for junk..an awful site...wonder how many soldiers/civilians had problems later in life traced back to agent orange..anyone know? need to know!!
Hi - I worked for TSAE in the silk screen printing dept from 1980 to 1982. I also spent a few months working in the printing and publications dept. I loved working there. I'm Irish and it was my first job after leaving home. It was a wonderful experience. I always imagined that it was still up and running.
The Hausen Equip Maint Ctr listed in the BICC is also listed in the INF Treaty Facilities Memorandum as a Launcher Repair Facilitie at 50 08 N 008 38 E. It was used to maintain the launcher for the MGM-31 Pershing missile. It was also used as a site for Soviet inspection of destruction of the same.
hi most of these pics from Rödelheim dont show TSAE but the premises of the US Army Printing & Publication Center, Europe (USAPPCE), I worked there as a local national from 1982 to 1994.
i was there from 88=90, i was Air Force attached to Army and this is where i was stationed, we had a little gate through the fence to go to the printing plant or if we wanted to use there entrance. We were the 4th ASOC attached to V Corp, with HQ in the Abrahms Bldg and main HQ in Sembach
I was at the Rodelheim printing building TDY for 3 months in 1990-1991. I remember the outer part of the circular bldg was for unclassified printing and was run by German nationals. I worked in the inner portion which was for classified printing. I ran the machine that compressed and sliced many sheets of paper with a giant slicing blade. Forgot what it's name was. Really enjoyed my time there.
I worked at USAPPCE as a press operator (civilian/female) from 1990-93. I loved it! I kept in touch with co-workers for a while but life happens (and lots of moves). My husband was USAF at Wiesbaden AB, Camp Lindsey. We miss Germany, still... would love to connect with others who worked there during this time.

ReplyDeleteAnybody remember where EMC-Hausen was located. It was used to repair and dismantle the Pershing missle launcher.

I lived in a house on Gaugrafenstrasse next to TSAE from March 1970=August 1973. I also worked as a dependent at a summer job there.
