ReplyDeleteThanks so much for taking the time to post all of these photos. My husband was stationed at "The Rock" from 1979-1983, and in Friedberg from 1985-1990, so Butzbach, Langgoens and Bad Neuheim were "home" to us for many years. I also worked in Giessen. I agree with Paul. Your photos have made me a little "homesick" and at the same time, it's sad to see these places that were once bustling with life so empty.
ReplyDeleteI use to live here along time ago from age 2 to 6. I remember it alot and was sad to hear that it was shut down.
ReplyDeleteDear All, I'm sad - as probably most of you - to say that, apart from the former Elementary School, there is nothing left of former Alvin York Village today...
ReplyDeleteI had the chance to pass by the neighborhood September 2012 and all buildings were teared down to make place for a new housing area.
Alvin York Village will only continue to live in our memories.
